"I Look Forward To Going Back To My Farm In 2023"- Buhari Says As He Celebrates 79th Birthday
The President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari said he looks forward to going back to his farm during his retirement.
Buhari speaking at his 79th birthday celebration in Istanbul, Turkey, today 17th December, 2021 also disclosed that he would do his best to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out his duties as expected before the end of his tenure come 2023.
According to Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the Nigerian leader started off the day by cutting a birthday cake moulded in national colours, green-white-green. Amongst them was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who rendered a tribute on behalf of the ministers and other top government officials who were present.
Showing how grateful he is to celebrate his 79th birthday today, he said;
“I thought that being away from Abuja I will escape these things. The Guards Brigade had written to tell me what they wanted to do on this day. Now here you are doing this far away from home.
“I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish, to go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution.
I thank the Almighty God for this day. Now the work continues."
