ASUU Suspends Its 8-Month-Old Strike
Today, October 14, 2022, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finally suspended its eight-month-old strike.
This decision was made at the end of the National Executive Council meeting which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja from Thursday night October 13th, into the early hours of Friday, October 14th, 2022.
ASUU disclosed the above decision via a tweet on their official Twitter page, today, October 14.
"Congratulations Nigerian students.
The 8-Months-Strike has been suspended conditionally, universities to reopen on Monday, the 17th October, 2022," ASUU tweeted.

Recall that the union embarked on this strike on February 14, 2022.
It was gathered that the meeting was called by the union to determine its next line of action after its state branches met over the Court of Appeal ruling last week.
The Court of Appeal ordered ASUU to suspend the strike before its appeal of the ruling ordering lecturers to resume work can be heard.
Before the aforementioned decision was taken by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), several meetings like this have been held by the union to resolve this very issue with the Federal Government but all to no avail.

So, in reactions to the court order, the union decided to suspend the ongoing industrial action conditionally.
